BCMP SCIENCE NEWS:

1) Congratulations to DR. JAMES CHOU for receiving the Giovanni Armenise-Harvard Foundation HMS Junior Faculty Grant.

2) A warm congratulations to DR. ELAINE ELION on her promotion to
Professor of Biological Chemistry and Molecular Pharmacology.

3) Last month, we mentioned DR. GERHARD WAGNER’s affiliation with
the new NMR magnet now installed at the MIT/HMS Magnet Center.

NOTICES

4) The BCMP Group Photo for the 2005-06 school year will be taken
on Friday May 12 at 11:30am on the quad-side steps of Gordon Hall. If
it rains, we will try again the following week, May 19, same time, same
place.

5) The dissertation defense seminar of YUNSUN NAM, “Structure and
Function of Notch Transcription Complexes,” will be held Friday, May
12, at 10:00am in Goldenson 122.

6) STEVE DAWSON has replaced Natalie Liang in the Financial
Office. He is now the grant manager for the Elion, Dahl, Lassar, Roth,
Wagner groups, and the HCC DNA and NMR facilities.

7) ALEXANDER KOGLIN (Walsh) did his undergrad at Goethe University
Frankfurt/Main, Germany, receiving a diploma in Biochemistry. For
receiving his Ph.D. degree in Biochemistry, he studied the domain
interaction of a carrier domain of a nonribosomal peptidesynthetase and
the structure of a thioesterase with Dr. Volker Dotsch at the Institute
of Biophysical Chemistry, Goethe University, Frankfurt/Main, Germany.

8) CHIKAKO SUZUKI (Wagner lab) did her Master's and Ph.D. at the University of Tokyo.

9) TAESOO KIM (Buratowski) did his Master's and Ph.D. at Seoul National University.

10) JUSTIN REGAINS (Clardy) did his undergrad at Ball St. Indiana, and his Ph.D. at the University of Pennsylvania.
